Watches and Wonders 2023
Rolex has released a new Yachtmaster 42 in RLX Titanium. This new version stands out to its technical satin finish with a visible grain. Fitted with a bidirectional Cerachrome bezel in matt black ceramic featuring raised and polished numerals and graduations it remains faithful to the aesthetics of the original 2019 model.
Inside is the calibre 3235 equipped with a nickel-phosphorus escapement and blue Parachrom hairspring giving a power reserve of 70 hours. Unlike the submariner, the Yacht-Master is only guaranteed to 100m, although its still fitted with a Triplock crown and oyster case. As it shares the same technologies as the submariner to protect from water ingress, it would seem most likely that this shares the same water ingress protections as the submariner and would likely withstand identical pressures, however Rolex clearly want to market this watch with a separate identity – hence the bidirectional bezel.
After sister brand Tudor has been playing with Titanium for some time to a warm reception, this now delivers Rolex’s first Titanium watch. This will be one of this years most in demand pieces.
